Facebook: Strategy (post 1 of 5)
Let’s talk about Facebook. By far the most common social media request we receive is for Facebook support.
We are assuming for the sake of this series, starting with this post, that you have already done your due diligence and Facebook is indeed the platform you wish to start with. (We’re also assuming you have already confirmed that social media is the right approach for your business). This series will run through all the basics you need to know for a successful Facebook campaign. Let’s start at the beginning: Strategy.
Step 1: Strategize
All good marketing needs intention. It’s important to know why you’re using social media, and be intentional about maintaining engagement. While some believe that every company should have a Facebook page just on the basis that ‘they should’- what are you really accomplishing? Do the benefits outweigh your efforts? While there is no financial cost in setting up a Facebook page/group/event, it’s not free. Put a plan in place to make the most of your time and funds. Start by asking yourself:
- What do I hope to accomplish with this page?
- How much time and money do I want to invest?
- Who do I want looking at this page?
- How does this page add to my current marketing?
- What is my plan to maintain this page? Do I have the necessary resources?
There is an old business saying that says “Things that get written down get accomplished.” Take the time to write your goals and intentions, and make sure everyone on your social media team is on the same page. Then you’ll be ready to create.
Need help? We’d love to help you with your social media. If you are interested in a social media audit, set up, or monthly management, contact us here.
Next in the series, we will discuss how to actually create a Facebook page, how to market your page, how to maintain your page, and how to report on your page. Stay tuned!
